Today's Mission: Jot Down Ideas for Repurposing Your Content
Last week, we talked about different options for creating your content. In that article, we touched on reusing your content in different formats. This is an important concept, because reusing your content in different formats makes content creation so easy. It's also a massive time saver.
So, how do you do it?
It's super simple, especially when you think about it before you get started on your creation.
For example, let's say you're conducting a webinar. You've got your target viewers in mind, a goal and a great offer that you're sure they'll love.
Perhaps you also have several speakers in your webinar, or you're interviewing a few different industry experts. Either way, if you set up your webinar so it's usable in multiple formats after it airs, you'll get far more value out of your content.
Let's look at some examples.
Reposting on YouTube
Once the webinar is over, there are several webinar services you can use to replay it at different times. In addition to this, you can post it on Youtube.
When you post on Youtube, put information in the description box to make it easy for viewers to visit your site.
Another plus with video is that you needn't worry about duplicate content. But you may want to rename your webinar to make it easy for your audience to find on Youtube or whichever video platform you're using.
Transcribing
You can also reuse your webinar by transcribing it. Once you've done this, you have a couple of choices. You can turn the transcript into a free download for your patients.
Or, you can reformat it into a digital report or blog article, break it down into social media posts, emails and more. Plus, you can post your transcription to Youtube for better search results.
So Many Possibilities!
Repurposing in different formats has huge implications for your content creation. It means that you can build on your current content to create helpful resources with less effort. It also means that you can fill out your content strategy with easy repurposing options to save time.
You can turn blog posts into mini 7-day email courses, challenges, videos and more. The sky's the limit!
So now you're aware how easy it is to repurpose your content in different formats. We've taken one example webinar and reused it for a variety of different types of content.
Try to go into every content creation project with repurposing in mind. Once you get the hang of this, you'll be able to streamline your efforts and produce amazing content as well.
Your mission for today is to take a look at three pieces of your content and come up with a way to repurpose them. For each piece, try to think of at least two three formats you can rework it into.
Don't have any content posted yet? Great, take a look at your content planner and go over some of the ideas you've jotted down so far. Take 3 and list 3 ways to repurpose each one.
By the end of this exercise, you'll have reimagined 3 existing pieces or ideas into 9 content offerings! As always, it's a great idea to get staff input on this as well. Your staff will have some wonderful insights into what's needed. And, they may also have expertise into creating different formats of content.
Once you get into posting content in different formats, it's also wise to pay attention to analytics. Be sure to keep an eye on which formats are most effective for your website.
And if you don't have analytics on your website or blog yet, don't worry. We'll get to that later in the challenge.
Have fun with this and we'll see you back here for Day 15!
